Brian Lewis Young Artist Program This Year's Dates: June 27 - July 9, 2010 brian with young violin player Made possible through the generosity of the Dorothy Richard Starling Foundation 2010 BLYAP Application and Information: 2010 BLYAP Flyer-Application.pdf June 27 – July 9, 2010 The BLYAP is a tuition-free opportunity for twelve highly gifted violinists up to the age of 18 to receive intense daily private instruction on concerto repertoire, sonata literature, scales, etudes, solo Bach, music of Kreisler, to rehearse with both piano and as soloist with orchestra, and to perform. Artist faculty include among others: Brian Lewis, David & Mary Winton Green Chair in String Performance and Pedagogy, Butler School of Music, University of Texas at Austin. Artistic Director, Starling DeLay Symposium on Violin Studies, the Juilliard School Stephen Clapp, Violin & Chamber Music faculty, the Juilliard School Stephanie Chase, Performing Artist, prizewinner, Tschaikovsky International Competition Simon James, Concertmaster, Seattle Symphony Bryan Hall, University of Texas at Austin, Teaching Assistant to Brian Lewis Ayako Yonetani, University of Central Florida To apply: 2010 BLYAP Flyer-Application.pdf *­Application form (call 785-242-0242 or download from below) ­*Letter of recommendation from student’s private teacher ­*Application fee of $30.00 (Made to BLYAP) ­*DVD of student playing * a movement of a Bach Solo Sonata or Partita * a mvt. of a sonata (with collaborative piano) * a mvt. of any standard Concerto (with accompaniment) * an etude or caprice by Paganini, Wieniawski, Rode, Gavinies, Kreutzer, etc. *New Extended Registration Deadline! * Audition packets should be postmarked April 1, 2010, or before.
